| || EDF Energy is a core part of the EDF Group and is one of the largest energy companies in Europe with key business operations in France, the UK, Germany and Italy. In the UK we have approximately 15,000 employees. We are the UK’s leading generator and supplier of low carbon energy. We produce about one-fifth of the nation’s electricity from our nuclear, coal and gas power stations, wind farms, and combined heat and power plants. We have a focus on safe, dependable energy generation and an ethos of service excellence. We intend to play a leading role in new nuclear build in the UK and secure a ‘bright’ future for the combined business and its employees. |
| || EDF Energy is at the heart of the UK’s new nuclear build programme. The nuclear power stations we plan to build will be the first in a new generation. So a career in this area is a truly unique opportunity – an opportunity to be at the forefront of new nuclear, and to enjoy a long and fruitful career helping us deliver the first nuclear power stations in the UK for twenty years. The first station to be built would be Hinkley Point C, Somerset, sited next to Hinkley Point A and B stations. This will be followed by two new reactors at Sizewell C in Suffolk. Together these will form one of the biggest construction projects in Europe and they offer the chance to gain invaluable experience working with the latest reactor technology. Throughout the initial development and construction phase, opportunities will focus on project managers, electrical, mechanical, control & instrumentation engineers and specialists. In the longer term, we also want to hear from nuclear operational experts, security professionals (for both information and nuclear security), quality assurance, quality control and safety case professionals as well as highly skilled procurement experts. |
| || If you want to experience working in a dynamic communications function supporting one of the largest construction project projects in Europe, then spend a year with our Nuclear New Build Communications team.
Whether you are communicating with our on-site workforce, our teams in France and the UK, the local community or our external suppliers, you’ll have the opportunity to discover everything it takes to build and maintain the profile of a nationally important infrastructure project.
| || This opportunity will give you experience of implementing a multi-channel communications strategy on the largest construction site in Europe, which will build yourwritten and verbal skills, stakeholder engagement and provide the opportunity to demonstrate creativity.
During your time on the scheme you will gain a deeper understanding of the communication requirements of a large complex organisation, the importance of networking and relationship building and the opportunity to develop strong technical skills.
| || The Communications Industrial Placement will support the Nuclear New Build Communications teams across a number of disciplines.
In particular they will assist with the staff communications and engagement programme, interacting with a wide range of stakeholders from the senior leadership team down.
They will also help provide professional advice and direction on a number of discrete communications programmes and will be required to support the External Communications and Community Relations teams with building local community and external stakeholder relationships for specific projects as required.
