Business Development ManagerAs part of the initial phase of a major investment programme, Cardiff University seeks to appoint a Business Development Manager along with several other posts including senior technical, academic and administrative staff. These new positions support a larger effort forming the Institute for Compound Semiconductors (ICS) located at the new Innovation Campus at Cardiff University. The ICS will be a unique industrially-minded user facility in Europe and equipped with state-of-the art fabrication and characterisation facilities including a full 8” fabrication line as well as a related small area process capability, epitaxy, material and device characterisation. It will enable increased industrial advancement along with novel research, development and technology transfer. This will position Cardiff to become the UK and European leader in translational research in Compound Semiconductors. The ICS forms part of Cardiff University’s £300m investment in new research and innovation centres, and its potential is already recognised by the Welsh and UK governments, who have invested over £37m towards its creation.This post will be supported by ERDF (European Region Development Fund) funds via the Welsh Government, for which an application is in progress. The role will support the ICS through a broad range of activities to develop and lead industrial-engagement strategy; develop and expand facility customer base; initiate, coordinate ICS marketing strategy; generate opportunities for collaborative research projects; lead product development and delivery; guide ICS strategic planning. Responsibilities will also include creating and maintaining a robust external network with funding sources, industrial partners and academic collaborators along with full participation in ICS Management group.The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in business development, product design and delivery, market strategy along with proven experience of developing and maintaining robust industrial relationships with a proven ability to adapt the service, and assure customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will also demonstrate knowledge of semiconductor technologies status and advancements as input to ICS strategic planning.
